We recommend for all organisations the concept of a Roster Day in the middle of June each year, an idea we first inaugurated at DHS Southern DAS in the mid-2000s.
The executive summary arising from that roster day is published on this page.
Key features of the Roster Day is that it:
- Minutes your performance for the financial year just being completed, by way of planning for the following year; and
- Achieves this in a single day. At first glance, this seems to be unachievable. However, information is prepared and packaged up in advance. And in any case, a whole day of planning is a day more than most organisations can currently claim to dedicate to formal confirmation of 'whole of rostering' for the coming year.
At the end of this roster day, the organisation will have confirmed the basic information as relates to each of the headings in the above table of links, and which may or may not be published there, as the organisation decides.
