EMSOnline: system requirements
Quick guide to EMSOnline Detailed information about EMSOnline Data Control Centre
Microsoft Office 2000 or later on your own server or PC.
Our first preference is that you give us access to SQL Server, which is more robust that MIcrosoft Access, our default data storage option.
But if this is not possible, we consult with you to ensure that you get the most possible out of your local folder structure, which will certainly contain some very good security options.
Installation information
It is more correct to say that EMSOnline is "saved", rather than installed.
It is saved into a folder that is on your server, and that is permissions controlled by you. Typically, we ask for remote access via TeamViewer, and save as you watch, but sometimes we visit and save in person.
Aside: the tool creates a temp folder called "data" on the user's c drive, to make it quicker to open certain excel templates for the user. When choosing a folder for EMSOnline, we recommend:
- A folder that anyone who might use EMSOnline in the future "could" access, if you needed them to; and
- A folder that you can block access to, whenever you require it.
Finally, we note that in some of the smaller organisations, where a single user may be delegated the use of EMSOnline, the folder chosen has been on a local PC.
